Behind the Scenes of Development: Building a Website Together with AI The Future of Web Production as Seen Through Our Renewal
Although it was right at the end of the year, we have completely renewed our company website.
As an "AI Translation SIer," we have been so busy with daily development projects that updating our own website has often been pushed to the back burner. To be honest, even though we knew that our information was lacking and the site was not up to date, we ended up neglecting it for a long time.
However, over the past few years, we have steadily accumulated new technologies and expertise within our company. We wanted to properly showcase and share these achievements. Driven by this strong desire, this website renewal turned into a highly challenging process that redefined the conventional wisdom of web development.
Here are the two main features of this renewal.
1. Partnering with AI from design to implementation
One of the major highlights this time was making full use of AI for both design and parts of the program development.
Amazingly, no external production companies or professional designers were involved in the creation of this website. It was also a process of verifying for ourselves just how much AI is capable of achieving and exploring its potential.
Design generation: Built based on visuals and layouts proposed by AI
System development: Leveraged AI to implement dynamic components and programs, such as the contact form
With the surprise of realizing "AI can do this much," we were once again convinced that AI can be a powerful partner at a practical level.
2. Choosing Not to Implement a CMS
In our previous website, we implemented a CMS (Content Management System) for content management. However, this time, we have intentionally decided not to use a CMS.
As a systems integrator, we placed value on writing code from scratch and incorporating AI into that very process. We let AI generate the HTML, and humans make fine adjustments. Through this "co-creation with AI," we were able to achieve flexible and speedy production and development.
Will web production companies become obsolete?
With AI able to handle so much, you might wonder, "Are web production companies no longer necessary?" You might be wondering about this. However, after going through this process, I strongly felt that "the role of production companies will not disappear".
It's true that tasks such as HTML coding and pattern generation will rapidly be replaced by AI. However, human involvement is still essential for the following points.
Overall planning and concept design: Deciding on the core—who to target and what message to convey.
Organizing and selecting information: Sorting through a vast number of ideas and restructuring them into a form that reaches users.
Expressing Intent in Words: Understanding what our clients want to convey and, through dialogue with AI, transforming those ideas into content.
Just as in the world of translation, the evolution of tools (AI) is shifting the human role toward more essential and creative decision-making. This renewal was also a process of rediscovering this new division of roles.
