Multilingual collection of commonly used terms in local governments now available for public - Language Asset Database for Local Governments
A multilingual collection of local government-related terms is now available to the public as the Language Asset Database for Local Governments. Anyone can access and view it freely.
A bilingual glossary of commonly used municipal terms, compiled and shared
Many terms used by local governments are commonly shared, but it can be difficult to decide how to write them or how to translate them into multiple languages.
The Language Asset Database for Local Governments compiles terminology used by local governments in a bilingual format, based on data created by Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. You can view both the original Japanese terms and their translations side by side. By consolidating the terms that were previously collected and translated individually by each local government, we aim to share which terms are being used and how they are translated, making information easier to understand for everyone.
This data is available under a Creative Commons BY license and can be freely accessed by anyone. We also use our Cistate TranslationDB Browser to store, search, and edit bilingual data.

We received valuable advice from Professor Rei Miyata (The University of Tokyo), who was involved in building and publishing translation resources for Nagoya City, during the processing and release of our data.
The Language Asset Database for Local Governments is designed to support multilingual information sharing by local governments. We will continue to expand our terminology and increase the number of supported languages in the future.
